EXPLORER ROUTE

2.2 miles, 2 churches
Great for families
Experience a mini-pilgrimage with this Explorer Route. Ideal for families, the route starts at St Tysilio’s, Sellack before heading into the fields and crossing the River Wye via the Sellack Suspension Bridge. As you head uphill to St John the Baptist Church at Kings Caple, you’ll find some wonderful views of this part of the Wye Valley.
Parking and toilets are both available at St Tysilio’s church, however there are no shops on the route so do ensure you have everything you need with you.
Download our pdf Explorer Route Guide for brief information about the two historic churches that form the focus of this pilgrimage, along with some activities for children to do on the way and when they get home.

A selection of single day pilgrimages, ranging from 4.5 miles to 9.9 miles. Ideal for those wanting a shorter overall distance without compromising on faith experiences and opportunities for prayer and reflection.
All of these routes are circular and there is enough parking at most of our churches to use any of them as the starting point for your journey. If you choose to start your route at St Catherine’s in Hoarwithy then we would recommend either parking in the village or at Tresseck Campsite (£3 per day) as there is limited parking at the church itself.
Our churches are generally open from 10am until 4pm and toilets can be found in the churches at Sellack, How Caple and Peterstow.
Some of these routes do have easy access to shops and eateries, whilst others are very rural and you will need to bring everything you might need with you.
Download the One Day Pilgrimage Route Guide for further information.
Additional one day routes will be added in due course.
FULL PILGRIMAGE

9 churches, 25 miles, 3-4 days
Or, for the seasoned pilgrim, this route can be completed in a single day!
The full StowCaple and Hoarwithy Pilgrimage Route is a circular route taking in all the churches in the StowCaple group plus St Catherine’s at Hoarwithy. Generations of communities have worshipped in these places and, nestled into the countryside of the Wye Valley, they each provide a space of peace where you may have your own encounter with God, learn more about prayer and faith, or simply take time in thoughtful contemplation.
This is a circular route so if you arrive by car, you can park in one of the long stay car parks in Ross-on-Wye. Alternatively, the owners of Tresseck Campsite in Hoarwithy are happy for pilgrims to park there (£3 per day) and start the pilgrimage from Hoarwithy.
