About the Pilgrimage

Set in the heart of the celebrated Wye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this pilgrimage trail invites you to journey between 9 historic churches across a distance of 25 miles.

These historic places of worship have nurtured prayer and community for centuries, each offering their own story and a warm welcome to all who visit.

With flexible route options, you can walk the pilgrimage at your own pace, making it suitable for young families, seasoned walkers and anyone seeking time and space to reflect.

Whether you come to seek God, strengthen your faith, or simply enjoy the quiet beauty of these remarkable places set within some of rural Herefordshire’s finest countryside, this pilgrimage offers a meaningful journey shaped by peace, landscape and tradition.

Isaiah Walk Challenge

“But those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.”  Isaiah 40:31

For the seasoned walker, why not take on our new Isaiah Challenge, covering a distance of 22.5 miles in one day.  Collect stamps from all 9 churches along the route to claim an Isaiah Walk Challenge car sticker.

Explorer

2 churches, 2.2 miles

Family friendly route starting at Sellack church then crossing the footbridge over the River Wye to Kings Caple.

Explore ancient celtic faith traditions at St Tysilio’s and enjoy the scenic riverside views from St John the Baptist.

One Day Routes

Various routes, 4.5 – 10.5 miles

A selection of circular routes particularly suited to a one day pilgrimage.

Each route highlights at least three of our charming churches, all set amid the peaceful Wye Valley landscape.

Full Pilgrimage

9 churches, 25 miles, 2-4 days

Experience the full Trail at your own pace, taking in 9 historic churches and 25 miles of beautiful countryside.

Each church carries its own spiritual and historical significance. All are welcome.

Isaiah Walk Challenge

22.5 miles in one day

Taking inspiration from Isaiah 40:31, this route has been created for those seasoned walkers that relish a challenge.

Those completing the Walk in a single day can claim an exclusive window sticker.
